Chinmoy’s Giant Statue rejected in Mógilsá – Iceland

The sculpture did not conform to Esjan ‘s plan of division

The City of Reykjavík ‘s planning representative has rejected the Sri Chinmoy Center’s request for erecting a 13.35 meter statue of late Sri Chinmoy near the mountain range Esjan.

“We received a reply from the City of Reykjavík that the statue did not fit in with the plan. We are just starting to look for another place that would be more suitable, ”says Guðný Jónsdóttir at the Sri Chinmoy Center.

The statue of Chinmoy was said to be 13.35 meters high and 9.36 meters wide. The work was to be dedicated to peace and rise in the land of Mógilsá in Kollafjörður.

Guðný says that this location was chosen because the plot is beautiful and is near Reykjavik. The center’s representatives prefer to have the statue in the vicinity of the city.
